No Advertising in this City

by Daniel on June 19, 2007

An interesting story from the online version of BusinessWeek today: São Paulo, Brazil has banned all outdoor advertising. That means no giant billboards, no signs on taxis, no posters on park benches, no bills on telephone poles, no signs…nothing. The one exception is store front displays – and those are tightly regulated.

You can read the article here: São Paulo: The City That Said No To Advertising

Outdoor advertising isn’t such a problem in Cville (unless you happen to be against giant photographs of wild animals hanging from trees), but the article brings up some interesting points (opponents claim 20,000 people will lose jobs etc. etc.).
