Local News Mapped for Your Neighborhood

Once a real estate mapping website, YourStreet.com as a local mapping website that shows you were news from your neighborhood is occurring. The site scans local news sources (newspapers, websites etc.) and places push-pins on a map for each story.
Its a great idea - I would love to know how far away from my house last nights shooting was - except that I’m not sure its technically feasible without a lot of partnering with the actual journalists reporting the news. Most news stories don’t report actual addresses for events and when they do, they are usually vague generalizations (”Obama appearing downtown”) rather than specific computer-friendly addresses (”Obama appearing at 123 Main St. in Charlottesville, VA”).
A quick test to see what the news was for Belmont only showed the Hook’s “$old” stories for recently sold property. The Obama story was mentioned, but showed no map location.
