Get Your Taxes Done So You Can Go to the Fair
April 14th 2008 by Kelly in Local EventTomorrow night the Dogwood Festival at McIntire Park will have the Fireworks show starting at 9:00. Your taxes are also due at midnight, the post office stays open until midnight to let you procrastinate unitl the last minute.
I went to the fair on Saturday night to check it out, it was pretty crowded. There are a lot of handicap parking spots reserved with signs, a whole parking lot reserved for handicap. Some fair goers were frustrated by this or thought that the police would not enforce tickets on the spaces since the wheelchair sign was on a piece of cardboard and did not look official. Every single one of the cars that we passed on our way into the fair (from our very far away parking space) had a ticket on it. Just a warning, handicap tickets are expensive (I think $100 dollars) and you could tell the fair goers finding the tickets on their windshields were not impressed. There was plenty of parking even during prime time (8ish on a Saturday night), so just be ready to walk a little. There will also be a pork bbq dinner tomorrow night starting at 5:30pm and going until the food runs out. The dinner is $6 and will include Pork BBQ or hotdog, coleslaw, beans, cookies and a drink. Bring your blanket to have a picnic before the fireworks!
