Henry’s Restaurant
April 22nd 2008 by Kelly in Restaurant
Walking down the downtown mall a couple weeks ago I noticed Henry’s Restaurant for the first time. I’ve lived here for a year but it was the first time that I had noticed the restauraunt located under Silvia’s Pizza. Last week with the pretty weather I decided to stop by during lunch and try it since they have a nice patio area to sit right on the mall. The hours are a little crazy so I had never made it by: Mon-Wed 8-3, Thurs and Sun 8-8, Friday and Sat 8-9.
I got the special since I feel like when restaurants do a special it is usually one of the best things on the menu. The special was the meatloaf and 2 sides, I picked macaroni & cheese and stewed tomatoes. I know country cooking seems to infer that your meal will be unhealthy but there were actually white pieces of fat in my meatloaf and it was covered in brown gravy, the stewed tomatoes were combined with crushed crackers and mayonnaise to make my meal completely inedible in my mind. I did take a couple bites of the macaroni but everything else just sat on my plate. I was very disappointed because the menu looked so good and was hoping to find a great country cooking restaurant.
Did I just have a really bad experience? Please tell me that your experience at Henry’s was much more enjoyable.
Where are the “country cooking” places in Charrlottesville that serve okra, collard greens and sweetpotatoes?

Henry’s is unspeakably awful. You must never eat there. Go to the Virginia Department of Health’s website and check out their inspection reports. You’ll be lucky if those white pieces in the meatloaf were actually fat.
There are no country cooking places in Charlottesville. You’ll need to drive 30 minutes in any direction to find that. You’re in liberal-town, boy.
