High Ceilings Are Being Replaced

This doesn’t seem true for Charlottesville because I still see a lot of Cathedral style foyers and living rooms, but the Wall Street Journal reported that two-story rooms are waning.  Home builders and remodelers are considering the wasted space and the maintenance of having a two-story room.  The rooms are thought of as drafty, hard to clean and noisy.  Two-story foyers remind me of prom, we always picked the houses with the beautiful entry way with the cathedral style ceiling for the setting of our pictures.  Everyone would line the staircase of the grand entryway.

It is less expensive to renovate and make the second story an extra room then it is to add an addition to a house.  The renovation is cheaper because the exterior walls are already in place.

Do you think two-story rooms are still a trend in Charlottesville?
