George Bush at Monticello

Even though I didn’t get a ticket to see President Bush talk, I watched the ceremony on TV. I couldn’t believe that you had to be in line by 6:30 to get a ticket to hear the President on Friday, I didn’t realize Charlottesville had so many supporters. My favorite part of the ceremony was listening to the new citizens give remarks on why they appreciated and wanted to be citizens of the US. I thought it was sad that my friends that did attend the ceremony said that they had difficulty hearing the ceremony because of the abundance of protesters, 6 protesters had to leave because of their disruption. I thought President Bush seemed friendly to the new citizens smiling and shaking hands, and hugging and made the ceremony a special memory for the 72 new Americans. Even though there is a lot of disapproval in Charlottesville of The President, I do think it’s pretty cool that on a holiday where most of us were off work, he was still working and making the new citizens feel welcome.
