Lighting the Darden Towe Softball Fields

Local residents gathered at the Elk’s Lodge near Darden Towe last night to voice their concerns over the proposal to light the softball fields.(Courtesy Daily Progress) My main concern is the price that the lighting will cost…$70,000. I go to Darden a lot to take my dogs to the dog park and there have been several instances when I’m the only one in the dog park. It just never seems very busy. Sometimes there is a pick up game of soccer but the fields don’t seem occupied consistently at prime times like 5-7pm. I’m sure that lighting the fields will bring more games to the park, but the lights will shut off at 10 out of respect for area residents. I know the reasoning behind lighting the fields is because of the YMCA construction that is taking away 2 fields at McIntire, but do you think people take advantage of the lighted fields?
