I just noticed the Cream Street Condos, so I’m going to tell you about some of the neighborhood advantages if you lived in these hip, new condos, built in 2007. First off you’re right in the middle of Main Street, and you don’t have to cross over any train tracks(so don’t worry about getting a ticket) to get home. Cream Street is hidden, I had no idea these condos had even been built, turn right after Mel’s and turn right again on Cream Street and you’d be home.
You can walk to UVA, only a couple blocks, or you can walk downtown, only a couple blocks. Continental Divide is one block from your house and serves Southwestern food. Mel’s is a block from you and serves country cooking for $10 and under. Si Tapas is a new Tapas style restaurant, with 75 different bottled beers carried, no draft, with a music venue called “Is” upstairs. It is 2 blocks from your front door. Maya, and Horse and Hound would also be two blocks from your condo.
The picture to the left is of Mel’s Cafe. It’s not a fancy place but the macaroni and cheese is really good.

I ate at Continental Divide last night and it was AMAZING!!! I heard Mel’s is good too!
What’s the starting price for the condos? They’re in a good location for those of us who love downtown but still can’t pry ourselves from the corner.
Continental Divide is one of my favorite places also. I just have to have a snack before going to eat there because chances are you will have to wait. When there are 6 tables waiting in front of you that means that every single one of those booths has to sit down eat, and then get up for you to get to eat. It’s not a problem because if they made a bigger location it wouldn’t have the same appeal, but I just can’t be starving when I get there or I’m not a fun date.
I would say Continental’s margaritas are the best in town. It’s a great bar to try tequilas, they have a whole chalkboard listing all of them and I think it’s more than 50.
Callie, there is one for sale right now in the building that is $199,000 (you can see it here.) The prices in the building vary though and the most expensive unit that I saw for sale was $629,000. The big windows in the building showcase the condos and the view is pretty.
I agree about the margaritas at Continental, best in Charlottesville! The tuna dish is one of my favorites too, served raw and on a crispy tortilla(my description does not do it justice their description actually makes you want to eat it).
This seems to be a great neighborhood for the med students as well – I know 3 of them that live right around here though not in this specific building. They are really cleaning up the area though I would think it would be a great investment!
