If I’m in the mood for wings usually I just think of Miller’s, but Saturday night I tried Wild Wings for the first time and I thought the food was pretty good. Normal bar food I guess, but it’s kind of a fun restaurant. It’s pretty inside, the walls are all exposed brick and of course tvs covering the walls. The tvs aren’t very clear surprisingly. You’d think if that was your thing to be a sports bar you’d make sure that the televisions looked amazing, theirs don’t though. Even the tvs that say ESPN HD aren’t the best picture quality, they need to work on that.
They have about 20-30 flavors for their wings and I was happy with my “The Slayer” choice. They give you a wash cloth with your silverware instead of a napkin, a good idea I thought. I also tried the fried mushrooms and they were some of the best I’ve had. Sometimes places cover them with a sweet pancake type batter, gross, but Wild Wings did it right. They were nice and crunch and they were freshly battered so they didn’t taste soggy. The fries tasted like Arby’s, nothing special, they’re skinny and they come in a cone.
Saturday night was Karaoke night. At first it was funny, but after a few songs you noticed it was just two couples going back and forth. The singers were picking slow songs too, so I didn’t hang out too much longer after that started. Our waiter said the one singer starts out every Saturday night with the same Shania Twain song and it always sounds about the same. Maybe she’s practicing for American Idol? She would be in the bad portion that they show before the show airs the real contestants.
