12th Street Taphouse is Open

by Kelly on February 4, 2009

In the old Northern Exposure(and brieftly Spry’s BBQ) location there is a new restaurant.  12th Street Taphouse is now open for dinner instead of just for lunch.  The entrees and appetizers were around the same price($10-$15) you’ll find things on the menu like spaghetti bolonase, steak with mashed pototoes, bison burger, crab cakes, and meatloaf.  The most expensive thing on the menu was $19 and it was the Steak and potatoes, it was the special of the night.  A favorite at my table was the baked brie appetizer.  There’s a pretty good list of beers to try too including a lot of the Star Hill beers.

The food is excellent, as always, and they have a great selection of draft beers. I had trouble finding the phone number, but saw that someone had posted it on another site. The number is 434-202-0764.

My wife and I ate at the 12th Street Tap House last night. One suggestion regarding the food as it was served to us at the table. It was luke warm at best. One cannot expect hot food to be such when it is plated on cold plates. A plate warmer or warming the plates in an oven would possibly resolve the food temperature at serving. Otherwise, the food, service, and atmosphere were pleasing. We will return.

Thanks for leaving a comment Dan. I’m sure that was disappointing on the first bite to not be nice and hot. That’s good to know that the food was good enough that you’ll return anyway.
