Meade Water Park

by Kelly on May 18, 2009

Daily as I drive by Meade Park I can see the improvements to the Aquatics Center.  The project is supposed to be completed by June and it doesn’t seem like that’s an impossibility.  The new water park will include slides, a lazy river, beach, lounging area, and completely new changing rooms and bathroom facility that look very nice.  This will definitely bring more families back to Meade.  How much do you think they’ll charge per day/season?

Here’s the link for the pricing for this summer. Sale season passes are offered through June 20th: http://www.charlottesville.org/Index.aspx?page=1433&recordid=1642

The Hook this week reported that City schools and homeschoolers will get into the pool for $20; private school students, however, must pay the adult rate of $39 pre-season and $49 once the pools open.

Daily: $5 for residents or $10 for non-residents

I thought it was going to be more expensive for the season pass, but the season pass gets you into all the Public/City Pools. For adults, the cost is $39 for your season pass or $59 for a couples pass(2 person pass.)

The discounted rate available now is nice. I guess that makes sense, since the pass will only be good for basically 1/2 the summer at Meade park (they’re projecting a finish date of mid-June.)

The name of it is the Onesty Family Aquatic Center, if your looking to times/rates go to the City of Charlottesville site. It’s grand opening is TODAY, June 20th and 10:00 a.m.. I hear there will be a moon bounce and stuff in the park too. The passes are totally worth it if you have active swimmers like I do that have spent most days of summer vacation at Wash. Park pool already! Please be kind when you park and try not to inconvenience the neighbors!
