New Mexican on the Downtown Mall

by Kelly on December 9, 2009

Stu Rifkin’s new burrito place is open for business…as of about an hour ago!  The store is next to The Jefferson Theater on the downtown mall.  Help him figure out a good name for the restaurant.  Suggestions?

I like restaurants that are named after condiment names.  I always wanted to open a restaurant named Ketchup, until I found out that there are numerous Ketchups all over the US.  I also like action words as store names.  I don’t think he should name it anything with Mexican food in the name like Taco Loco, or the Crazy Burrito.  A play on the location would be fun, like “2 Doors Down.”  What do you want it to be named?

Read this update here from The Hook.  Also, to correct my previous missinformation, it’s a Coran Capshaw Restaurant.  It will be run by Alex George and Stu Rifkin.  Side note: I’m really excited because Curry in a Hurry (Alex George), so yummy!

hahaha! Yeah, I think he’s hoping to get it named soon. I feel like naming restaurants is always the ending hard part. It took forever to come up with Boyan Heights, and when you google it, The Connells song and the North Carolina neighborhood are still top results.

Had 2 empanadas from there today. Queso fresco and slow-cooked beef. Both were very good. Whatever the name is, I’m going to be a regular.

Thanks for the props, but it’s not my establishment. The Theater owns the restaurant, and the theater has a name. It’s called The Jefferson Theater. Eventually this part of the theater will have it’s own name/logo. Empanadas are the focus and Alex George is the genius behind the fine food. The restaurant will be open when the shows are on, so it will be a very late late place to catch a snack, even if you’re not at the show.
