I’m giving you 3 easy ways to make your special someone happy on Valentine’s Day! Prove that you put in a little effort. It’s always nice to be reminded that you’re appreciated. Here’s 3 ideas for you to show that you gave the day some thought.
1.)Dinner Reservations, or breakfast or lunch….any meal or vineyard works. Take the initiative and make the reservation. I included links below to some restaurants that are having Valentine’s eating specials:
Keswick Hall’s Fossett’s Restaurant: 12,13, and 14th $89 per person, 434-979-3440 View menu here.
Be Mine with Wine at Keswick: 9am to 5pm on Feb 14th. $12 includes strawberries, wine, and souvenir glass. Reserve space here.
Valentine’s Day Wine Dinner at DelFosse: Feb 13th: $70 per person. Reservation required. Menu by Genevieve DelFosse
p.s. I would recommend, Bizou. Boo, that they don’t have a website, but don’t forget about them. Intimate dining setting, great ambiance, and there bread pudding is delicious. (434) 977-1818?
2.) Take a trip. It’s always fun to be surprised. There are several bed and breakfasts around Charlottesville, so you don’t have to make it a long roadtrip. Tickets to see a sweet movie are also a good alternative if you can’t get out of town.
Heart Ball at Mariners Landing Resort: Saturday Feb 13th. Ball will benefit the American Heart Association $100 per person including overnight accommodations, or $75 per person for event. Ball will include four-course meal, with featured wine selection by Chef Benjamin McGehee and entertainment by 58 West. (800) 851-4988 or reserve online.
The Inn at Sugar Hollow: The Butterfly room and Wildflower Room still have availability for this weekend.
Go see Valentine’s Day, it starts playing on Friday at the Carmike 6 on Seminole Trail: Showtimes for Friday and Saturday 1:10, 4:05, 7:00, and 9:55. I feel like every time I take a guy to see a “girl movie” they end up loving it, and this movie is supposed to be really funny.
3.) Buy her something that’s not practical. Flowers are always huge on Valentine’s Day (and for this I’d recommend Whole Foods-2 dozen rozes special, or Hedge). Hedge makes the most beautiful and creative arrangements and are still taking orders for delivery on Valentine’s Day until Saturday.
Derriere de Soie: Men’s Night, Friday Feb 12th from 7-11pm RSVP or get more information at info@silkybottom.com Snowed in?? They’ll deliver: 434-979-7455
Eddie Bauer is having a huge sale right now. Don’t laugh. I love that store right now, especially the First Ascent line. I still support Blue Ridge Mountain Sports, but it’s hard to beat 70% off. So, you could get her a new coat, for cheap. All this cold weather has been a mess, and right at our very own Fashion Square Mall you can get a cute new winter coat for her to keep her warm from all this snow. PS I wouldn’t recommend any of the coats in the bottom row, not the best looking, any of the others, great gifts.
What are your ideas? Are you a big Valentine’s Day person? Do you have a Valentine’s Day ritual?

I’m a fan of C&O. Don’t know if they are doing anything special or not. Not sure if a coat is the most romantic gift that can be given on Valentines. Sounds more like a christmas present. I agree with you on Hedge – in face, that whole shopping center is a great one-stop-shop place for everything valentines day – ingredients for a fancy meal, flowers, chocolate, cakes, cookies…
I love this post. When was the first photo taken? Can we forward this post to all the men in Charlottesville?
Enoteca! So fun.
